Add Vitamin D Supplements To Your Prepping Supplies

Why should you add Vitamin D supplements to Your Prepping Supplies?

Our bodies need Vitamin D so that we can absorb calcium to promote healthy bone growth and strength. It also helps us maintain our immune system for better health. Many of us naturally make around 90% of the Vitamin D we need when we absorb enough sunlight into our bodies through the skin. The remaining 10% of Vitamin D intake comes from foods that are rich in Vitamin D such as tuna, orange juice, cheese, and cereals.

However, not everybody gets enough Vitamin D from sunlight. For example, people who work night shifts often don’t get enough natural Vitamin D. People who live in areas that have fewer sunlight hours per day also find it difficult to naturally absorb enough sunlight.

In order to combat this many of us have to take Vitamin D supplements to compensate for the Vitamin D levels, we are not getting from natural sunlight.

Should the SHTF after the explosion of a super volcano sending vast amounts of dust into the atmosphere. Or a nuclear winter from which fires can inject soot into the atmosphere. Levels of natural sunlight would be significantly reduced or in some cases blocked altogether for long periods. If this happens our need for Vitamin D supplements would become even more important. Because taking supplements can combat Vitamin D deficiency.

Why Is Vitamin D So Important?

Vitamin D helps our bodies in many ways, it supports strong and healthy bones and maintains our immune system. Vitamin D regulates the cells which build and keep our bones strong. Helping them to absorb and store calcium in our skeletal tissue.

It also helps our bodies to recycle calcium in our kidneys so that our bones can reabsorb it. Without this function, we would lose a lot of our bodies Vitamin D when we urinate.

Without adequate levels of Vitamin D, our bodies develop a Vitamin D deficiency which leads to significant health risks.

Effects Of A Vitamin D Deficiency

Without enough Vitamin D in our bodies, our bone structure can become soft causing rickets in children. In adults, it causes fragile, misshapen bones and fractures. Vitamin D Deficiency can also cause muscle weakness and has been linked to health conditions such as:

  • Weight gain.
  • Fatigue.
  • Asthma.
  • Diabetes.
  • Heart disease.
  • Depression.
  • Breast cancer.
  • Colon cancer.
  • Prostate cancer.

    1. Hi Lonewolf.

I believe the body is able to store vitamin D in our body fat but these levels can deplete in as little as two months.

      1. not what I was told, I was told it cant be stored in the body we need a daily dose of daylight not necessarily sunlight but just daylight to access vitamin D.

  1. I thought I was good on vitamin D because I garden every day. Sadly, the part of my body best equipped to produce vitamin D is my torso, but it rarely sees much sun. After gardening, I hit the showers worshing off the vitamin D before it can be absorbed.

After the instructor at a cooking class suggested it, we demanded our allopath to check out vitamin D levels. At 17, my level was life-threatening.

I dosed with 20,000 units (twenty thousand) daily for a year, then tapered to 5,000 units daily…. and my level holds steady at 80.

No more COPD or asthma symptoms… and at 65-years.old, I got my libido back!

    1. You must add k2 which is found in natto or fermented foods or as a supplement known as mk7. Otherwise the calcium in the blood will settle and cause aortic stenosis and much more. Mk7 helps the calciym find its way to building healthy bones when taken with vitamin D. At least 2000 iu or more like 5000 iu vitamin D plus 120-180 mg mk7. It is now sold together a lot of the time.
